Flyers
2021 – ongoing
Flyer dimensions: 20 x 26 cm
Material: Wood. Semi-transparent paper. Pins. Felted wool. Glass.
Flyers is an ongoing series of leaflets drawing on the aerial leaflet drops that are prominent in the context of air raids and military operations. Each leaflet in the series breaks with the intention of mass-produced propaganda to influence the behaviour of combatants and civilians in enemy-controlled territory. Instead, the series proposes a distinct psychogeographic study of text, with each flyer providing a map of unfamiliar territory for the recipient.
Glacier Blue: Grounded Outer Space People 3/6/9
Deep Orange: Mnemonics I – Prologue
Bee Yellow: Respiration – Inspiration – Perspiration
Burnt Sand: Welcome In The Now
Pea Green: Mnemonics II – Epilogue
While still in the air, hovering over the colourful landscapes below, the series is first documented as part of the Archive of Belonging exhibition ‘HOMING’.
– Mnemonics I – Prologue and Mnemonics II – Epilogue are mnemonic devices methodically conceived for memorising texts. Accordingly, each letter in the mnemonic text chronologically maps each word in the prologue and epilogue of the film and performance “If not now, when?” presented at the House of World Cultures Berlin in 2023 and 2024. The flyers make it possible to navigate, read, remember, invoke and perform these texts using a simple and traceable linguistic code.
– The poem Welcome In The Now was first presented during the performance at Roskilde Festival in 2021.
– Grounded Outer Space People 3/6/9 was first presented during the performative exhibition Grounded Outer Space People at Galerie Wedding in 2022.
